Security built in, not bolted on.
Two things have to both be true for a household to trust software with its life: the infrastructure has to be sound, and the policy around your data has to be fair. Here's both, in plain language.

Encrypted end to end in transit
Every connection is HTTPS with HSTS (preloaded), so your household's data is encrypted between your device and our servers. There is no unencrypted path in or out.
Your household is isolated at the database
Data is separated per household by row-level security in Postgres — not just by an app-level filter. A member of one household can never read another household's records, by construction.
Hardened against common web attacks
A strict Content-Security-Policy, cross-origin request checks (CSRF defense), rate limiting, and server-side validation on every write protect the app from injection, forgery and abuse.
Files stored privately
Receipts, documents and photos live in private object storage that's only reachable through short-lived, access-checked links — never a public bucket.
The policy
Sign-in handled by Auth0
Authentication runs on Auth0, a dedicated identity platform. We never see or store your password, and sessions are kept in an HttpOnly, same-site cookie that JavaScript can't read.
Roles and permissions on every action
Owners, adults, teens, children and guests each see exactly what their role allows. Sensitive changes — like removing a member or granting owner rights — are gated to owners and checked on the server.
No ads, ever. We don't sell your data.
HouseholdOS makes money from subscriptions, not from your family's routines. There are no ad networks, no data brokers and no third-party trackers selling what your household does.
Your data stays yours
Export your household's data whenever you want, and if you close your account we delete it. You're never locked in and you always have a clean way to take your information with you.
